Using graphite and jesso, James Busby evokes the concept of escape with large scale textural paintings on display at Stux Gallery. When viewing the pieces, I couldn’t help but be drawn into the obsessively crafted textural surfaces. Enigmatic loops and swirls, at first subtle to the overall composition, become fascinating. So much so, that as you close in, the overlapping textural and geometric patterns lull you into a form of reverie. Wingspan is a win.
