Shae DeTar is a New York City-based artist and photographer who uses traditional processes to create vivid, colorful imagery. By hand-painting images, a process that dates back to about 1840 (when a photographer would hand paint a monochrome daguerreotype to add realism), Shae adds a vibrant feeling to an already stunning composition. Her aesthetic has been described as quirky and 1960’s with a cinematic feel. Shea’s images are mostly shot on location in lush pastoral settings, or remote desert scenes straight out of a Nicolas Roeg or Alejandro Jodorowsky film.

Shae DeTar has worked commercially with clients such as Alice & Olivia, Orly, and Novella Royale, among others and has been featured in Nylon, Vogue UK, Juxtapose, LiveFast magazine and The Wild. She is represented in New York City by Kasher Potamkin Gallery.
