One can imagine a tiny likeness of David Bowie strolling elegantly down the halls and alleyways of Motoi Yamamoto’s labyrinthian salt installations. The amount of detail Yamamoto puts into these works, composed of over 2000 pounds of salt in about five days, is at once visually arresting and quite possibly psychologically harmful – relative scale considered. One may venture too far into the maze and realize just how tiny this mortal coil is in the larger scheme of the universe. Or not.
