Beth Hoeckel, a multidisciplinary artist from Baltimore, spends her days hunting down vintage publications in second-hand book stores, and her nights cutting and creating breathtaking collages with underlying themes like nostalgia and mystery. The artist is inspired heavily by concepts of negative space, unusual shapes, and the wealth of innovative compositions available in indy publications.

Hoeckel’s collages are full of heavy contrasts, colors, and people facing powerful natural forces. “I think it’s one of the only things that can make us stop and stare and experience awe. It’s literally all around, everywhere, and is so inspirational, but we can tend to take it for granted,” she said to Beth always challenges her audience to interpret the story behind her mystifying works.

She is currently a full-time artist creating collages, mixed media paintings and more in Baltimore City. To connect with the artist, head on to her website
