Andrea Diodati Presents The White Fall during New York Fashion Week 2013.

On Thursday evening of New York Fashion Week 2013, New York-based fashion designer Andrea Diodati presented her fall collection marked by pastels, flowers, and powerful femininity. Self-described as a “feminine feminist,” Ms. Diodati showcased pieces with names like “Dance Me to Dream Dress,” “Kiss the Clouds Dress,” and a “Sweetness Garter Belt” paired with a “Sweetness Bra Top.” With fluffy platinum blonde-and-pink wigs, Models Carley, Rosie, Liliya, Jacque, and Elanor gracefully modeled Ms. Diodati’s fashions inside the All Souls Chapel in Manhattan’s chic Upper West Side. Niabi Aquena, on vocals and keyboard, and Cryssy Cheung, on violin, filled the adorably cute chapel with soft, angelic melodies while the audience enjoyed white cotton candy. Everyone left with a Valentine’s Day-themed gift bag courtesy of RealBeanz and JewelMint.

In our eyes, Ms. Diodati represents a new wave of ultra-fem fashion wherein modern women can simultaneously embrace both their delicate and driven nature. It’s a dichotomy that feels especially strong in New York City, where mothers, daughters, and sisters proudly express their power without hiding their beautiful figures in boxy business suits. Ms. Diodati’s ‘60s-era flower power aesthetic—floral-inspired buttons, laidback vests, and mini-skirts—found balance beside forthright collars, poised undergarments, and diverse textures.

You can find Ms. Diodati on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and AndreaDiodati.com, and shop previous designs at Anthropologie.
