Shot on location in Mexico, OUTLAWS was written and directed by Cannes Gold Lion-winning director Geremy Jasper as part of a collaboration between British heritage apparel brand Bellstaff and the Milk-owned Legs Media. Outlaw won “Best of Show” last week at the Best Shorts festival.
“Outlaws is a marriage between Frida Kahlo and Elvis Presley… or if Bunuel made a B Motorcycle movie for 50’s drive ins,” said Jasper of his creation. “The main cinematic inspirations were my longtime obsessions with Fellini’s circus films, and Sergio Leone’s epic Spaghetti Westerns. I thought David would be perfect as a rock n’ roll version of “The Man With No Name” played by Clint Eastwood in the “Dollars” trilogy. Other influences were nightmarish 40’s film noirs like ‘Detour’, Evil Knievel, Tod Browning, and the Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada. I got to mix up all of my great loves.”
