Despite a recent thumb injury, pianist Nils Frahm plans to tour North America this fall, starting with an intimate show at the West Park Presbyterian Church with Arcade Fire violinist Sarah Neufeld in New York. The Berlin-based composer completed part one of his Recording Tour in Europe this May and will begin his 9fingers Tour in the states next month. Frahm recently uploaded the wistful solo piano song, “Song for 9 fingers,” adding “This is my new Django Reinhardt way of doing it. Or, in case you break your left thumb, you can still perform this.”

To get a sense of what you might expect from his live show, La Blogothèque featured Frahm as part of their series, “Soirées de Poche,” last week, which you can also watch above.

Tour dates for the 9fingers Tour are listed below, and tickets are available for most performances through Erased Tapes here.

Following his North American tour, Frahm will join Erased Tapes label mates Ólafur Arnalds and A Winged Victory For The Sullen on the Erased Tapes 5th Anniversary Tour in Europe and Turkey. Having had the pleasure of seeing AWVFTS live at Le Poisson Rouge last month, I can assure those of you lucky to be/live across the pond that these performances are not to be missed.
