One of my most enjoyable, movie-going experiences was seeing the Tarantino/Rodriguez Grindhouse double feature, in particular the fake trailers that were shown before Planet Terror and Death Proof. The video for A Place To Bury Strangers‘ new single “You Are The One” could have easily been one of those previews.

Directors Matt Moroz and Tracy Maurice (whose credits include videos for Arcade Fire and Sleep Party People) shot the seedy video on 16mm, evoking the style of exploitation films of the 60s and 70s. The video’s premise and graphic violence channel Death Proof, except with more nudity, and the violence on screen perfectly complements the frantic onslaught of guitars and feedback in the song. If you’re not easily offended and if you have a soft spot for B-movies, which I think go hand in hand, you will appreciate the blood-soaked video above.

“You Are The One” is the first single off the upcoming Worship, out on Dead Oceans on June 26 and available for pre-order from SC Distribution now. The track is also available for free download here. If you haven’t experienced an APTBS show yet (one of the most deafening bands I’ve had the pleasure of seeing live, after My Bloody Valentine), you definitely need to check them out when they’re on tour this summer.
