British songwriter and trained dancer Fka Twigs (aka Tahliah Barnett) crushed Jimmy Fallon last night during her U.S. network TV debut with a hypnotic performance of “Two Weeks,” from her first studio album LP1 (2014), out on Young Turks. The large fabric air sculptures floating behind Twigs were designed by Daniel Wurtzel, completing the performance with in mesmerizing visual style.

Above is “Video Girl,” also from LP1 , which is one of the albums nominated for this years’ Mercury Prize, released just last week. Twigs is daughter to a gymnast mother and a jazz-dancing father, and moved from her native Gloucestershire to London to pursue a career in music at age seventeen. She’s since released several self-produced albums, been featured on the cover of The Fader, and was named by Spotify as one of the artists-to-watch in 2014.
